I've been chuntering about wanting to go for quite

I've been chuntering about wanting to go for quite some time now and yesterday, I finally made it. The Piece Hall, Halifax. It's history is what fascinates me, how it was built for handloom weavers to be able to sell their cloth to merchants. Such an extraordinary building, showcasing the wealth of the wool industry in West Yorkshire and not only that, initially, it was only open for two hours a week! Now it has been refurb'd and is chock a block full of fun, little, independent shops, restaurants and cafes.

On my explorations, I also discovered that legend has it, the head of John The Baptist was buried in Halifax Cathedral and it was an organist of said cathedral who discovered the planet Uranus!

Oh, and I managed to pick up a copy of Topic UK too.

All in a morning's explorations.........

It's 01 Sept, a whole new month and having wasted the whole summer, I've now decided to get out and start exploring by back yard, county of my birth and spectacular region of Yorkshire. This photo almost literally in my back yard, Carr Lodge Park in Horbury. Not on the tourist circuit but a favourite for local dog walkers.

Fact: I know India pretty well. Fact: This is the

Fact: I know India pretty well.
Fact: This is the result of an obsession, to discover and to see beyond.
They say a lifetime is not enough to discover India and they would be right.

Yet now, I am back in Yorkshire. I left when I was 18. Firstly to London for higher education then onto do a ski season which turned into 6, back to London in search of a "proper" job and then in 2006 to India for the next 12 years or so.

My course this week was photography. Finally learning how to use my camera effectively, finally discovering what all those buttons do and settings mean.

What I actually discovered were places I'd heard of, but had no concept of. Of course, I know Yorkshire is beautiful and I am incredibly proud to be from here. But I am just starting to get an appreciation for just how spectacular it can be and getting a true sense of its history one, in many ways, which can be linked storywise to India. From now on, I am going to attempt to set aside one day a week to discover more about this extraordinary county of my birth. I've been told a life time won't be enough, but we know I'm an obsessive explorer, let's see.

How often do we look into someone's eyes and see what they see? Reflections of their view, their life, their soul.

Street photography from India. A homeless man I'd see on my way home from work, he'd look out for me, knowing I was a soft touch. Who knows what leads to people ending up in such situations? Be kind, be compassionate,.small touches can make a big difference.

I love the monsoon in India. This time last year I was on my own journey chasing the monsoon, albeit inadvertently around the country. Warm rain, tumultuous drops, life affirming, bouncing off and then soaking into the parched and cracked earth and filling up dry river beds and streams. I love watching as the trees, shrubs and grasses bend in supplication to the force of Mother Nature at her finest, yet then spring back, joyous at having been replenished for a few more precious months.

The monsoon in August in Yorkshire? I'm not quite feeling it! Happily it's snug in my She Shed!

Street photography from India. A homeless man I'd see on my way home from work, he'd look out for me, knowing I was a soft touch. Who knows what leads to people ending up in such situations? Be kind, be compassionate,.small touches can make a big difference.

I love the monsoon in India. This time last year I was on my own journey chasing the monsoon, albeit inadvertently around the country. Warm rain, tumultuous drops, life affirming, bouncing off and then soaking into the parched and cracked earth and filling up dry river beds and streams. I love watching as the trees, shrubs and grasses bend in supplication to the force of Mother Nature at her finest, yet then spring back, joyous at having been replenished for a few more precious months.

The monsoon in August in Yorkshire? I'm not quite feeling it! Happily it's snug in my She Shed!
